Luminous Budapest

When I first came to Budapest, I noticed the numerous plates commemorating writers, actors, scientists, politicians, historical figures, and also painters. Plates saying “here lived…” But what did they actually paint? Making their art visible on the urban grid is fascinating. How many of them knew each other, visited each other? An artist being anchored in a concrete geographical location has become rarer in modern times. People move around more and places matter less. Some people can be " located" only on the internet.

The majority of works that one discovers here is from 1930 to 1970. It was a bright epoque, at least so it seems, despite World War II. Much summer, water, sunshine, and Balaton. Altogether, the paintings appear luminous, which adds a little bit of color and light to Budapest. Go ahead and take a walk...
